Françoise Atlan recorded several albums awarded by critics (Diapason D’Or, FFFF Telerama, Gran Prix of the of the Charles Cros Academy…)
Artist from a double culture she is unique for her vocal expression, the style and the
technique. Her Jewish-Berber roots led her naturally to become passionate about the
Mediterranean vocal heritage, in particular the Jewish-Spanish and Jewish traditions
while continuing his career as an opera singer
She graduated in musicology at the University of Aix-en-Provence, Medaille Vermeil en Piano (Monique Oberdoerfer’s class) and Gold Medal in Chamber Music, she was introduced to singing from the composer MauriceOhana, after having chosen her to interpret his cantigas.
First Soprano of the Ensemble Musicatreize directed by Roland Hayrabedian, she
became a student of Andrea Guiot at the Conservatory of Paris.
In 1998 she was awarded the Villa Midicis “hors les murs Prize” for the collection
of the musical and poetic tradition of the city of Fez in Morocco, as well as of the Award
Caisse d’epargne as “Best Music Artist of the World 2007”.
She regularly performs singing masterclasses in Geneva, Montreal, Aix-en-Provence, Brussels and Basel
Along with his career as an international singer, she is Artistic Director of the Festival
des Andalousies Atlantiques in Essaouira (Morocco) from 2007 to 2015
and of the Musiques du World of Gibraltar.
The Festival des Andalousies Atlantiques also inspired, in summer 2015, the Festival D’Art Lyrique in Aix En Provence.
In 2013 she created the Compagnia Yemaya e l’Ensemble Vocal Femminile Bilbilikas, for which she rewrites, the Jewish-Spanish and Arabic-Andalusian repertoire for 4 voices.
Her new album “Aman Sefarad…; with the Greak Ensemble Enchordais, was released in January 2015 and won the “coup de Cœur” award of the Academie Charles Cros 2015.
Also in 2015 she performs with the Sinphonic Orchestra of Montreal under the guidance of Maestro Kent Nagano. In 2015 , The Ministry of Culture entrusted her for the creation of an Opera dedicated to the voices of Mediterranean womens.
Thus was born “zelliges” (1h15) for voice, oud, piano and percussion, where poems mix Hebrew, arabic and castellan Francoise’s favourite languages.
In 2016 Francoise Atlan directed among others, the coral and academic project “ Coexistence”with more than 100 students.
